In concert with our renowned core curriculum Arts Program, students can choose from a plethora of inspiring Arts activities beyond the classroom.

The Arts

Through The Arts at Pembroke, students are inspired to find new ways of seeing and interpreting their worlds.

They are given the tools, time and belief to shine across Music, Drama, Film, Visual Art, Dance and more.

Our offerings and expertise in The Arts are celebrated both locally and globally, and many of our talented graduates go on to carve out exceptional careers in their creative fields including success at the Academy Awards.

Music

At Pembroke, activities and experiences in Music abound, where every student is free to be themselves and find their place.

Music offers numerous opportunities for ensemble and solo performance and is a widely enjoyed pursuit. Special events include the Generations in Jazz festival in Mount Gambier, our own Jazz Cabaret and Winter Festival of Music, Music Showcase, Spring Fling, Pembroke Live – Rock School, and Carols in the Quad. Internationally acclaimed artists frequently collaborate with our students for these celebrated performances.

Individual Music lessons, ensembles and performance opportunities are available across our Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. For more information, read the brochure via the button below.

Drama and Film

Drama and Film co-curricular activities at Pembroke provide exciting opportunities for students. Our programs have lit the creative fire for many of our renowned old scholars who are now flourishing in roles such as professional actors, filmmakers and designers including recognition at the Academy Awards.

Every second year, Middle School students can participate as singers, dancers, performers or backstage crew in the School Musical, a large and popular production performed in a professional theatre venue.

Some students develop a keen interest in lighting and sound operation, set design, costume, hair, make-up or publicity and can hone these skills through various performances across the School including SACE Drama and IB Theatre productions. IB students have the opportunity to participate in a co-curricular play as part of their Creativity, Activity, Service component.

Film Club is offered to students from Years 7 to 9 who are eager to develop their skills and knowledge in making short films, learning practical techniques before planning and executing their own film projects.

A much-loved Film highlight at Pembroke is our annual Unreel Film Festival which provides our students with a unique platform to share their work with the wider community. Indeed, some of our young filmmakers have won national competitions and had their pieces included in the Adelaide Film Festival.

More formal learning is offered through Dance and Dance Studies subject options in Years 8 and 9, and accelerated studies for Year 10 students in SACE Stage 1 and Year 11 students in SACE Stage 2.

We look forward to seeing our students shine on stage as Dance continues to increase in profile at Pembroke.
