Trips & Exchanges
In addition to our exceptional Outdoor Education Program, Pembroke features a suite of signature trips and exchanges, empowering our students to broaden their horizons.

Beyond the Horizon
A new addition to our suite of travel is the incredible Beyond the Horizon program where our Year 9 students can opt to visit and connect with remote communities through meaningful service opportunities and cultural immersion while undertaking an intrepid adventure.
Supported by our external partners Infuse Travel, scores of students set off in the October school holiday period to destinations including the Pilbara, East Kimberley region, New South Wales South Coast, Southeast Queensland and Far North Queensland.
Service activities are many and varied such as delivering meals to people experiencing homelessness, supporting Indigenous students in schools and youth hubs and contributing to wildlife rehabilitation and conservation projects.
Indigenous Exchange
One of the most significant adventures on Pembroke’s camping calendar is our unique exchange with Marree Aboriginal School in outback South Australia. Students visit each other’s schools and stay in the community through this treasured partnership which began with a Geography excursion to Marree three decades ago.
Each year, approximately 20 Pembroke Middle School students embark on a transformational five-day journey, sleeping in swags, exploring the Australian outback and learning about Aboriginal culture. The deep connections they form with the local school children are what make this trip truly special, with many participants describing it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

QUEST
QUEST is Pembroke’s new Year 11 International Service and Adventure Experience which builds upon the foundations of Beyond the Horizon in Year 9. Accompanied by our staff and supported by leaders from our external partners Infuse Travel, students working in groups of 16 to 20 visit destinations such as Cambodia, Vietnam or Costa Rica. They serve through community-driven projects including housebuilding and conservation, adventure through trekking, outdoor expeditions and physically demanding challenges, and immerse themselves in culturally diverse communities through homestays, ceremonies and guided exploration.
QUEST is designed as a defining moment in the Pembroke journey – a program that students will look back on as transformative in shaping their values and character.

Words of Wisdom
A school that confines learning to desks and walls forgets that children grow through experience, challenge and shared endeavour.
