Junior School
Our vibrant Junior School nurtures young hearts and minds from our Early Learning Centre through to Year 6.
With an inclusive School culture that views each learner as unique, we believe shared and respectful understandings between students, teachers and parents create enriching academic and wellbeing benefits for all children.
Best practice Literacy and Numeracy programs are a hallmark of a Pembroke education, and our Junior School blends the Australian Curriculum with the respected International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), a curriculum framework applied by hundreds of schools around the world.
Daily Life
Life in Our Junior School
Based on our Girton Campus, our Junior School students are supported by a Class Teacher dedicated to their learning journey, while also enjoying a wonderful selection of specialist-taught programs.
A highlight is Spanish which is studied from ELC to Year 6 and is offered as a language pathway at Pembroke through to Year 12. We also offer co-curricular Languages opportunities in Mandarin, Italian, Hindi, Korean and Polish to support students to maintain and develop languages skills that may be fostered at home. In addition, we provide support with English as an Additional Language (EAL).
Other areas of curriculum focus are Library, Music, Drama, Art, Physical Education and Health. As well as Languages, students also have a vast choice of co-curricular activities across The Arts, Sport and much more.
In addition to academic growth, we believe all young people have leadership potential, and we provide a variety of experiences and opportunities to develop student agency.
